SPA City state of the Union? It’s Johnson vs Yepsen and her Saratoga “drama generation”

The SARATOGA “drama generation”
Disgusted democratic committee members have again told me that leadership of the committee has endorsed Saratoga Supervisor Joanne Yepsen as their candidate to run for SPA city mayor.  The four term supervisor  is best known for stealing others people's work and her crushing defeat at the hands of then State Senator Roy McDonald two years ago. Yepsen has also made a name for herself as an outspoken critic of the city center hosting gun shows.Something they have peacefully done for over thirty years.  She called gun show attendees “disgusting” and said they were gun toting misfits. Funny I was with the gun show protesters from 9 to 5 all day. I never saw Yepsen till she arrived late in the day with controversial Albany DA David Soares and his money packing allies from Moveon.org. Funny I never saw Susan Steer at all.

The heavy drinking Yepsen will make banning Gun Shows and downtown nightlife a major part of her campaign strategy. No word yet if she will push for a  city wide ban on extra-large surgery drinks.

The Mayor, Scott Johnson sounded like a man running for reelection in his State of the City Address. Complaining about Governor Andrew Cuomo’s casino referendum that much like gun control the Governor just wants us to “trust him” I believe that the siting of just three upstate casinos in undisclosed locations is the biggest threat to the city in 30 years. I also have been told by my Albany bureau that Cuomo will be withholding VLT aid from the city, citing the costs of Hurricane Sandy cleanup.

Anyway I understand both parties plan a full slate of candidates with Billy McTygue running for either Commissioner of DPW in Newtown Connecticut or Saratoga Springs. Commissioner of DPW Anthony “Skip” Scirocco may just have nine political lives as McTygue seems to be running a anti gun campaign instead of criticizing Scirocco’s handling of the DPW department. Several people have asked me about the mental stability of McTygue. Looks like another easy race for Scirocco. Two as yet unnamed Republicans are looking for a shot at Commissioner of Accounts John Franck. A whole slew are looking to run against Public Safety Commissioner “toothy” Chris Mathieson. Anyway it looks like an interesting election season.

And on a final note on the gun show. The only rude behavior I witnessed was former Democratic Committee Chair Al Turkheimer try to take my camera. This comes on the heels of him telling people “he was going to take me out. One more time Turkheimer and I’m going to file for an order of protection.

THE ANTI-GUN DRAMA QUEENS OF SARATOGA SPRINGS

And to Yepsen and Speer and all the other drama queens complaining that pro-gun protestors were rude.

You are drama queens. You suffer a type of attention disorder where you are overemotional, exaggerative and  prone to theatrical displays of melodrama. You greatly embellish the circumstances of anger and events that took place all to stir up drama and your own role in events. You  make ridiculous "dark" accusations while making sweeping, pseudo-intellectual "observations" about people who don’t agree with you. Although Drama Queens come in both male and female varieties and can exist anywhere the Cities Democratic Party seems to be riddled with them.

One of the biggest traits of a Saratoga drama queen is that anything and everything is about them. Nothing else matters, it's all about their needs, their wants, and their irrational fears.

Many times drama queen’s mate with other drama queens creating a kind of cross-pollination found in a super drama queen like Yepsen or Steer and in some extreme cases an entire “drama generation”. Remind you of the cities Democratic Committee?

I was reared both at home and school to think that the government in "America" was simply the best there was.
Sadly, at this point in my life I have to say that I see no branch of government (local, state and federal) that functions well. I have never seen such an incompetent and prolifigate group of people.
What kind of people spend a dollar for every 55 cents they collect and then try to justify it?

Idiocracy incarnate.
See the Mike Judge movie to really appreciate life in this new millennium. Google 'Idiocracy.'

Every time a politico says Americans are smart I cringe.

The insult of the evening was during the Pledge of Allegiance and short prayer the City Democratic Chairman did not take his beret off to show respect to the flag. If that reflects leadership and respect It begs me to ask the question where his head was at. As fpr Ms. Yepsen the only accomplishment and qualification she has for the position of Mayor of this great City is her ability to attempt to be a major player in the State Democratic party which was a miserable failure. She loves attention but just a "hit and run" politican. Wherever she can attract the most attention she is there. As far as the Casino choices inside sources have infrmed me none may be at current Racino site. The rationale is it would create marginal additional revenue and makes no sense. New Casinos in areas like Rome.N.Y., Plattsburgh or the Sounthern Tier have more revenue potential and there is massive Federal owned land sitting there vacant looking for an opportunity. The loss of VLT revenues is being tossed around as we speak. Our current council would be in tears if they had to utilize all the reserve funds and than consider layoffs to meet the cost saving needed to keep taxes down. They could not handle it. EMS which is NOT a major success from the revenue side would have to be eliminated and the appropriate choice that should have been made initially will occur. There have been no numbers to support the fact EMS is a major success. The grant dollars are gone and now is where the rubber meets the road.It is now looked at as a Public Safety service and not a test program that will be discussed. The costs have been lowballed from the start and will continue to grow while revenue will top out in 2013 and reduce from there. A real finance individual can easily see the writing on the wall but if you are not looking for it you don't see it. If all the stars align in the Democratic Party God help Saratoga Springs.

JT your premise about drama queens would be more acceptable if you were not so full of bombast yourself. Your blog has been outrageous at times. Hypocrisy doesn't suit you!

Yepsins'run for Mayor will be a suicide mission at best, giving up her supervisor sit(which I believe she would lose anyway)would be a plus for the city because she has been unable to accomplish anything for the taxpayers. Her campaighn will rely heavily on the efforts of three most POWER hungry people ever to sit on the City Council---Franck-Madigan-Mathesian---these three were for Charter Change(as was Mctygue) they were for closing down the NIGHT life in the city and support the railroading of one of the Citys' oldest friends' of 30 years the perfectly legal gun show. These three will try to set the table for the former Val Keehan and Ron Kim supporter Yepsin,if you liked the chaoctic years of Keehan and Kim then these wine guzzlers are for you,we'll be supporting "Smart Progress"for the City in the middle of the "BURBS".JT is there anybody else out there to run against this Siricco?

Happy you made it home safe and sound. Have fun in Albany!

Mayor Yepsen/McTygue would be the nightmare of the 21st Century.God Bless Saratoga Springs. At least you would know where to find a good portion of the Council after work.

Yepsen for Mayor? Ambition knows no bounds, for christsakes'she has no leadership skills and she wants to run for Mayor,COME'on JT this is a joke right? She worked behind the scenes for CHARTER CHANGE cause under the city manager the county supervisor would have been a member of the City Council.

The city has no MONEY,,,,,BUT everyone got RAISES...I really does pay to suck ASS

There're are a few good candidates that are lining up to run against Mathesian, unfortunatly for they have experience in Public Saftey and none in DENISTRY.

BANNING SURGERY DRINKS??! WHAT!?! NO ONE...I repeat NO ONE is going to take my drink out of the operating room. How the hell else am I supposed to keep my hand steady. People, if you care about licensed care practitioners, you will speak out against this horrible notion. Keep booze where it belongs: In the ER!

Stop the misinformation, Madigan was not for charter change and her husband actively worked against changing the charter. Didn't he even write a readers view against the change? Franck was against charter change. They are both should be against this new charter change move by the mayor to have a strong mayor government. Didn't we vote against this 6 years ago. So tired of this issue of the charter. As for guns, Madigan has signaled loudly she doesn't think the gun show should be canceled.

Ben lives on said...

Madagan I agree was anti-charter change and has supported the civic center.
Franck looked me in the eye and said "charter change was the will of the people".He also wants to cancel all further gun shows

The new Charter Change Committee will be looking to refine the current charter not change the form of government to a strong mayor. Facts facts. Someone out of nowhere makes up their own charter review priorities.Gun show are happening all over the country as we speak. LosVegas has a major show planned. Where was the Senate Majority leader. Not a peep. ZThis masquarding that saratoga Springs has lost integrity because they allowed a gun show is BS. The NY Times article was not biased nor negative as stated. The statement the City made no money on the show was ludicrous. The sales tax was at record levels and occuapancy and attendance was up substantionally. 100% increase in attendance. Ammunition sales at record levels. Occupancy tax was up as well. Why did the City need a visit from the DA from Albany County with a much higher crime and gun use rate when we have our own DA. This was strictly a political event sponsored by Albany who by the way is having a approved major gun show soon. These are facts not stories from uninformed biased individuals.

Common sense restrictions. Nobody wants to take away your guns. Except that they do.

These people who want an outright ban on gun shows can't pretend that they are only against certain types of weapons being sold there. If that were so they would be asking for a ban on those weapons only. People against the sale of cigarettes in pharmacies haven't tried to ban Rite-Aid.

I think that these people are bigots, snobby bigots who look down their noses at cultures they don't like, in this case white men with red necks and blue collars. How dare they go about pursuing happiness right out in the open like that! (For those of you who don't get sarcasm, I am NOT supporting the people who want to ban the gun show.)

This reminds me of years ago when people tried to ban the Harley Rendezvous in Duanesburg under the ruse of semi-legitimate concerns such as traffic and noise. It's just plain old bigotry, prejudice against people whose lifestyle offends some for no valid reason but individual taste.

Yepsen and Mctygue are romantically involved! These two in city hall would be terrible for the city. No one needs a council with POWER HUNGRY people on it. Already have Franck, Madigan and Toothy. That's too much already. Doesn't anyone remember all the damage McTygue did when he was running DPW? This is a terrible move by the democrats.

The current charter states you can be on the Council and still hold the position of County Supervisor. There are some subtle changes that should be addressed. Strong Mayor is not a proponent of the upcoming charter revision.Eliminating the default budget is advisable. We've experienced the horrors that can occur when a default budget takes place. Work until you get it right.Too much power in the hands of one memeber of the Council. The current charter is riddled with contradictive material and needs to be cleaned up.

Weeping Willie McTyghe and Cupcake Yepsen. You just can't make this stuff up.

Bully mctygue can't pay his mortgage on his High Rock Condo,it is as simple as that he needs a job that pays 100K plus a year because,
he has a drinking habit that is costly ask Gaffneys he is all done and out of money so let him rot in his problems....he never did anything for anyone, that did not suck his ass....and that is fact

Anonymous said...

Would rather have "Weeping Willie" & his knowledge rather than "Skip the Slip & Slick" with absolutely no clue how to manage a department. "You know"

How can you say Scirocco doesn't know how to run the DPW Department. Just look at all the things he has gotten Done. City Hall has never loked so good, and the Casino beautiful. Water treatments plant are getting done. South Broadway, Church Street. Water lines, new public bathrooms, Spring Street hill, all in 6 years.

Anonymous said...

Mctygue did that much work in a year.

Mctygue who i thought did an outstandng job with what the publcie could see ignored what was under the ground for yearrs. But at least the city looked pristine uner his leadership. Now we have two people, Billy and Joanne who's only completed effort was and is emptying the bottom of a glass This is not the leadership the city needs. Billy is far from the person he was and has some serious problems. What is Joanne's resume. Start a project, allow someone else to finalize it and than take credit for it. She doesn't understand a budget, has a great personality and smile but has no real references for a higher position let alone the Mayor of this City. She can't even read or generate a budget. She will have the dollars but dollars do not represent accomplishments. The word is when you see Joanne and the McTygues coming you know they have a need. Tommy should stay happy with his horses and new home and stay out of the fray. His time has come and gone. The Council has many responsibilties but one of them is to provide the environment for the private sector to be successful and I don't mean the John Franck deals. Joanne possesses no leadership skills . She starts something and allows someone else to get their hands dirty and than takes credit for it. If this s the Democratic Partie best choice they have run out of ammunition but not rhetoric. The next election will be a war and I sincerely hope the Republican Party shows up for this one!!!

Really, since y know so much about Billy & his serious problems, let's hear them. It's very easy to make statements but much harder to back them up. Let's hear what the hell you've got.

You can say anything you want about T. McTygue. Bottom line he knew how to manage the DPW dept. and what's important to this city. You talk about Skippy upgrading the Casino, water dept., etc. T. McTygue upgraded Congress park, the Italian gardens, put cameras in the park, won awards for the beauty of the city (something that been totally lacking under Skippy), installed all the victorian street lighting in the city, cameras in the park, fought to have the Carousel into Congress Park.

What did Skippy do? Increase the price of a Carousel ride, Increase to the taxpayer the rental of the Casino, sold water to Wilton without any in-put from the taxpayer or council, increase our water rate every year he's been in office. Best of all, ran the DPW dept. into the ground. I'll take a McTygue anytime.

Let's not forget all of the negitive bull-shit regarding the FBI, CIA, Incon investigations that were being conducted during the elections in 2007. When or when Skippy will those investigations take place? Will you start that bullshit up again if Bill McTygue runs against you? Better come up with something better than that Skippy. "You know"

Say what you want about Yepsen's drinking, Johnson & his wife are drinking scotch like water at thier resturant nightly and have to walk home, pics and all. It is alleged by inside employees that Johnson is toasted during working hours, of course you have to be there to witness this but......

Anonymous said...

but.....johnson doesn't drink I work there,but...we've seen Ms. yepsen in there, she's very friendly to most of the men she comes in contact with, she like s' her wine but....

Oh, 9:43 that must be why all dpw employees talk about the Mayor's BMW always being parked over-night in the parking garage! At least he's smart enough to take a taxi home!

Gotta love all these folks that post as 'Anonymous'. Must be afraid of something I guess.... ;)

Before you tear into Skip, you should realize the mess he inherited. There was a LOT of things McTygue didn't keep up through the years - the drains/sewers and such in this area (Geyser Crest) were crumbling THEN - and he didn't do a damn thing about it. Or other parts of the city that is TWICE as old. The road I live on has flooded for fifty years now. The reasons were simple and obvious. I even walked McTygue and the City engineer around the block, showing them the drains, terrain, collapsing sewer drains that were a foot to small, how they piped it wrong, ect.. His solution? NOT fix the area where the problem was, but rather go further down the road, which did nothing more than flood the BOTTOM of the hill now. I still flood as I always did. I'm disabled, had two heart attacks and have to sand bag my home - on TOP of a hill - every time it storms or we get a thaw. yet, this problem has gone on and on and on... And you know how I got McTygue to actually something (even if it didn't work)? Extortion. That's right: EXTORTION. I showed him a bunch of pictures of kids canoeing down our sewage filled streets and such - from 50 years ago to the present and told him if it wasn't taken care of within a week they were going to the newspapers. And this was before the last election he ran in.

Yet, I called Skip before the last big storm was supposed to pelt us, let him know what was going on, and he sent Tim Cogan up IMMEDIATELY. He agreed it had to all be rebuilt, and the very next morning they had a vacuum at my house to clean out the sewers as best they could, and even offered to help with the sandbags. Oh yes! And Skip called that morning too just to make sure his crew DID clean those drains out and help me.

Say what you want. I'm far from a republican, and never met Skip until I called his office. He EARNED my vote, as well as the rest of this neighborhood. Say what you want about McTygue. Yes, he new the infrastructure because he was in power for so long - but that doesn't mean he ever did a damn thing about keeping it up.
