Thousands came out in the bitter cold to protest new laws
passed with little debate and in the dead of night that turned hundreds of thousands
of law abiding New Yorkers into criminals overnight. I met up with friend and
noted Albany Blogger Theresa Grafflin,of Albany Citizen One HERE.
| Me and Theresa Grafflin,of Albany Citizen One |
I was told this was the largest protest in years in Albany. I
again heard Saratoga Springs won’t receive a dime in VLT revenue this budget
cycle. Think Joanne “cupcake” Yepsen can get the funding back? That’s a laugh. Ask
her about her meeting with the Governor in Buffalo. That’s the stuff of
legends. Or about how much Andrew Cuomo
loves Albany county DA David Soares. I also spoke with some gun groups who promised to actively oppose anyone in Saratoga Politics who oppose the Saratoga gun show.
I did like this one shot with a don't tread on me sign in front of the Porta Potties.
For now I’ll just leave you a few pictures
of the protest. This will give Susan Steer nightmares.
Saratoga in Decline

Poor Weeping Willie. Hung like a field mouse. No wonder she likes David Soares
The new Gun Safety Law is not about taking away our guns. Not yet, anyway. This new law will enable a new bureaucracy to construct a new database that will cross check all records be it DMV, insurance (homeowners, auto and health), hospital and health records, parking tickets & etc in order to better compile a risk assessment on each and every New Yorker. This new data will then be used to qualify individuals, to see if they are fit to drive a car or own firearms. Folks on prescription medication for certain mental conditions will be deemed higher risk and if their medical practitioners feel this person is a possible risk to the public or themselves, will recommend suspending or revoking their firearm and ammo permits. In extreme cases, confiscation of said firearms will be the reality -- all in the name of protecting society. All this bill will do is penalize citizens with mental disabilities. Have any idea how many veterans are on meds? The other nasty part of this bill will be to identify all gun owners and expose them to insurance companies who, in turn will re-access their policies and increase their premiums. First they came after our guns, next they will come after our dogs. This played out many times in history, it is not new. Now it is our turn. The other down-side of this sinister law will be to allow insurance companies to profit handsomely by increasing rates on gun owners deemed to be marginal in their new 'risk' assessment category. And last but not least, if anyone is caught breaking the new law, they might be charged with a felony (if Obama gets his way) and guess what? Convicted felons lose their right to vote. Hmmm. It's going to get alot more interesting real soon. I don't want to be here when the ants wake up. Glad I'm not a grasshopper.

Weeping Willie? HaHaHa He really isn't too bright. Stupid as a matter of fact. Perfect for this council. A collection of misfits. Joanne "Ditts" Yepsen says it all.
The key to this current Council is Madigan...right now she is being used my Franck and Bill Mctygue to push THEIR agenda(not hers'),Michele is a thinker and I know she feels she's being used but is caught between loyalty and her OWN beliefs to what SHE believes to be right....be true to yourself Michele and your a winner to yourself and the people that put you there...Mctygue is looking to get even and Franck is looking to make money,I know you hear me.
A Siena Research Institute poll released last week found that New Yorkers support the provisions of the law that strengthen the state's assault weapons ban and limit magazine size by 73-26 percent.
You might get a couple of thousand people to a rally to protest the new gun safety laws but the numbers are not on your side on this issue. The vast majority of people want common sense gun ownership laws.
Do ya think Bully and Johnboy are on the Down Low??? think about it...
11:23
I guess you did not see the channel 6 live web poll Friday night, 95% of people disagreed with chomos new law and want it removed.
73-26 percent, 73 percent are Boy George Fans and 26 percent are not.
On the Casino issue Saratoga Springs is caught between a rock and a hard place. Even if Saratoga Springs is chosen doesn't guarnatee wmore revenue for the city and could create less There are only so may spendable gamblign dollars and the plan for a hotel/conference center might directly compete with the City Center for a slice of the pie. The other issue isnormally when people go to an event at a Casino and stay at the hotel nearby very few will visit and support our downtwon businesses. Think hard and long about this and remember it still has to be voted in by the citizens of NYS. The latest polls show negative support for this initiative. People are looking at the results in Pa. which has caused bankruptcies in some communities and has been considered a failure. The horseman are doing fine but the surrounding communities are suffering dearly.Scranton Pa. is the perfect example. Look it up yourselves. I don't want to do all your homework for you.
The vast majority of bloggers want common sense responses too. But as has been shown by your belief in the Siena poll, their isn't much common sense there.
Statistically, the vast majority of legal gun owners use common sense when dealing with their fire arms. Sure, you have a few that are not as responsible as others, but there are far more people that do not use common sense when driving. This is seen daily in texting drivers, make up applying drivers, cell phone using drivers, eating drivers, drivers that don't use their mirrors, check their blind spots, perform proper maintenance on their automobiles, don't clean their cars properly or defrost their windows completely, do not secure materials they are transporting appropriately, and so on and so forth. You and I are far more likely to die in a car accident, than to ever die by a gunshot wound.
What is common sense gun ownership laws????
Keeping them locked up and secure? Obviously, most legal gun owners do.
Not aiming them directly at people? Most already know better.
Not taking a firearm to a school? Most don't.
The bottom line is, their is no common sense in banning a semiautomatic weapon that accounted for 5 murders in the entire state of NY, or limiting the number of bullets in a magazine to 7, especially when they don't make magazines for 7 bullets and gun makers will not just start making 7 round magazines.. There is also no common sense in banning a weapon on cosmetic merits alone.
What of those new laws make any sense, let alone common sense????
That does nothing to thwart or halt a murderous mind from committing a tragedy.
So these sheep, and mindless idiots, that have no knowledge of guns, no grasp on common sense, are the ones who are calling for common sense gun laws????
There should be, and should've been background checks all along, no shit, that is common sense. Although I am hesitant to have a registry out there with what weapons I own, due to the chance of government confiscation, I believe that law enforcement should know who has what weapons, for their safety, when responding to a call or to even in some crazy scenario call on a private citizen for help if the time were to ever come.
Should there be limitations on certain individuals owning weapons due to certain conditions of a deteriorated mental capacity? You better believe it!
Should there be a requirement for gun safety, such as courses and instruction?
Without a doubt!
The banning and limiting of certain guns and magazines though, is completely assinine, and has no sense at all.
I was proud to stand amongst the thousands at the NY state capitol to have my voice heard.
How many people have ever stood in solidarity at the capitols steps in a call for "common sense" laws banning weapons???? How many have gone online, or written, or called their political leaders or signed petitions to ban weapons????
"We the people", used a real voice and have come out in droves to show that we are against the banning of these weapons!
So you are right about one thing.... The people have spoke....

We need Matt McCabe back!
Or Micheal Lenz!
"I was told this was the largest protest in years in Albany."
Yup, if by "years" you mean "weeks" then yup. Otherwise, that's a crock of shit.
Yea and it was a small crowd for the gun show in town.
Believe what you will
The issue with the new gun law isn't it's intention but the rush job behind closed door, the lack of public input and it has more holes than swiss cheese. in his eagerness to be the #1 State to enact tough legislation he produced a myriad of recommendations that are not practical and make no sense even to law enforcement and also anti-gu advocates. This is all show for political reasons and future ambitions. Hate to inform Andrew but he'll never beat Hillary in 2016 and might have to wait until 2024. By than maybe he will have lost his ego, shortenend his rhetoric and represent the people and not himself. The same can be applied to local politicians who state they represent their constituency. Does this mean all the taxpayers of the city or the people who got them elected. Sometimes one word states volumes. Look at the campaign contributions coming in already from the PBA and other city groups. Is that their constituency??? Only time will tell.
Matt McCabe would be a good choice for the Council. The only problem is that he is a straight shooter and doesn't fit in the political game being played. A major party would not support him because he doesn't fit their agenda. An Independent has no chance is Saratoga Springs. I would welcome him to the republican Party because I believe in his values and his committment to the city and not himself.
Hwy-- somebody mention Mike the corner druggist fo Mayor! Yes! Bring back Michael Lenz.
He's had 15 years to grow a back bone. And leave Matt McCabe out of it, he's one of the good guys that does not this bullshit anymore. He paid his dues. Of course, should he decide to run, good for him. We'd be honord to have him back.
From the internet.....
“A registered gun owner in Utah yesterday caused a stir when he went to a shopping mall with an assault rifle slung over his shoulder along with an open carry pistol and plenty of ammo. Utah is an open carry state, so what he did was completely legal. As the line goes in The Big Lebowski, “you’re not wrong, you’re just an *sshole,” seems to be fitting.”
Also from the internet.....
“MEDINA, Ohio — Accidental shootings at gun shows in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio left five people injured Saturday, the same day that thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter firearm limits."
It’s generally not a good idea to generalize about different groups of people and I generally don’t but....
It seems to me that a fair number of these NRA members are extreme, and somewhat stupid in both their arguments and actions.
No one is saying Lenz for mayor! It's Lenz for finance or accounts! McCabe for one or the other. To replace Franck and Madigan is the main idea here.
ALR,
Agitate/////Legislate//// Regulate///.
Did anyone happen to notice the excellent coverage, by the Saratogian, of the gun rally????
State and national news on their doorstep, and not a peep, yet they pander to the likes of Susan (cancel the show for the kids, no, ban it for good, because I like the notoriety, even if its for being a nitwit) Steer....
What the hell is wrong with this city these last few years????

In response to your Casino posting:
Isn't it a shame that in 2013, the city, state and most of the country is relying on revenue from gambling?
It has become a fact of life, but the bigger picture is quite disturbing. Especially when you consider all the seniors who call it their "entertainment" which is really a cop-out to disguise their gambling addictions.
Read this and educate yourselves:
http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/united-states
We, as a nation are the numero uno gun owners of the world with over 280 million firearms in the USA. Read the stats on homicides and suicides etc and you might be surprised. It's not anywhere as bad as it's made out to be. Nada. Zip.
All things considered -- we're doing great. Screw the politicians. They are not coming for our guns. They can't. Even our armed forces only account for some 4 million arms. Local law enforcement is about 1 million. Citizens? 280 million.
Susan Steer and our Jewish friends and relatives of the same mind-set can kiss our collective rear-ends. These people are intellectually-clever, passive aggressors that are scared of loud bangs and have a male-wide difficiency of testosterone. When push comes to shove -- don't count on them to watch your backs. They won't be there. They are the first to run.
Let's take a lesson from our Jewish-German-Amercian breathren: Their ancestors gave up their arms to Hitler's thugs in the 1930's in Germany and caused the execution of 6 million of their own kind. Italy allied with Germany but the people kept their firearms. Italian citizens were armed with Benelli and Beretta arms & shotguns and brought about the over throw of their fascist, puppet government. Result: Mussolina and his wife were dragged throught the streets, remember? They were a little pissed off I guess. Italy was then liberated by way of Sicily by Patton's Third Army by the end of the war. I learned this story first hand from my Italian father and German and Jewish relatives.
Learn by the past or the past will repeat itself once more.
And if some of you really believe the catylist for all this gun control began with the premise held by the MSM to be Newtown CT, read this:
www.sandyhookhoax.com
And keep in mind the largest pro-gun lobby (National Shooting Sports Foundation) is located in Newtown CT. Their adress is at the bottom of the page (oh, so small, eh?) I kid you not.
http://www.nssf.org/industry/aboutnssf.cfm
Coincidence? Not. Follow the money.
We're all being played.
A lot of people who don't own guns didn't know about the protest until it was underway. The crowd would have been bigger. I was unaware of this event but I support it. I don't care that a majority allegedly support infringements on Americans' freedoms. How is that relevant?
Notice that these "solutions" only focus on one group, legal gun owners. How about our culture of desensitization to violence, brought to you by major corporations at a handsome profit? Many people feel that ultra-violent video 'games' are a significant factor in these mass shootings. Not a mention of that. Hollywood gets a free pass. If anyone tried to censor anyone's constitutional rights in that area, you would hear these supposedly liberal stars screaming their heads off about first amendment rights. So focus on one group only, the group without as much money, the gun owners.
Jeffery Armstong: You won't understand. It's a jewish thing. Get over it.
Excellent commentary in the Gazette this morning on the State's new gun law. Apparently the "talking head" of ur State Government rushed so fast to be #1 he forgot some major issues. Now we can have a do over. Sounds like Obamacare II.
I
So, tell us John, how does the new gun law effect you personally?
What inconveniences do you now face?
Will you have to give up any of your guns?
5:04 PM- The "inconvenience" is simple. Another database run by the government that can be used to pinpoint if you have ammunition in your home. The ability to deny the renewal of your gun permit. The ability to have armed authorities show up at your door and demand that guns or ammo be turned over AND to have a judge sign an search order because the database supports the probable cause needed to obtain the search warrant. This is just another step in the whitling away of personal freedoms in this country. What's next? An alcohol purchase database? A database to track the nubmer of unhealthy food purchases to charge you more for your Obamacare? A database to track your internet activity? Seems we're teetering on the edge of the slippery slope that will lead to total government control of our lives. Maybe you should reread Orwell's 1984 or Animal Farm.
1;45 it is a Pelosi thing,,,,,We have to pass it to see whats inside>>>>>Like they were calling him in Texas Cuomo the Homo... they knew a sellout when they saw him....
To 6:54 poster--
Aldus Huxley's Brave New World was one of my favorites. We're all epsilons. Let's not forget "Make Room, Make Room." Remember that one? It was made into a movie starring Edgar G. Robinson and Charlton Heston. I forget the name but it wasn't Omega Man.
You know, we see many people who show classic signs of paranoia.
The government is tracking every movement I make, the government is going to show up and take my guns away, the government planned 9/11, the government implanted a computer chip in my head so they know what I’m thinking, the government is listening in on my phone calls.
I don’t think that I am alone in thinking that paranoid people who own guns are the ones who scare us the most.
From the internet....
“A security guard is hospitalized in the city of San Fernando in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago after accidentally discharging his weapon and shooting off his penis.”
Do you people realize how many cocks are shot off every year?
Do you people know how many cocksuckers these tragedies put out of work every year?
If there was ever a reason for gun control surely this is it.
Anonymous at 11:21...What are you, an idiot or one of these new world jewish pacifists?? It was that very mid set that caused the deaths of 6 million jews in Germany...all because of complacency. Get real. Read the Bill of Rights and stop being a jerk. We only have 2 left: the 2nd and third amendment. Disarm the people and you get to have the third all over again. Are you so arrogant to think this cannot happen again? My God, man...WAKE UP. Did you just cut American history in school? God save us from you people.
Anonymous 1:22...Very good. I agree. Made me laugh. We do not need any more people out of work... especially cocksuckers collecting unemployment! They need to be re-educated with new skills. How about muff diving? Snorkel optional.
And 8:07...I think the movie was Soylent Green.
