Many people complain, if there is some witness to this Darryl Mount incident that left this man critically injured that disputes the SSPD version, why haven’t witnesses come forward?
Well they have and it isn’t pretty. Friday September 7 at 9:15pm an 18 year old witness to the Darryl Mount incident who gave a sworn statement to the police that contradicts the police version was being dropped off in front of his home in Jefferson Terrace. Some of the witnesses to the Mount incident live in the Terrace and residents claim a beefed up police presence there is meant to intimidate them.
But I digress. Witness’s claim as the car came to a stop to drop off a boy who was a passenger, a police car with lights flashing came up behind. The cop wrote the young lady a ticket for “having a dealer frame around her official NY Plate” Whatever that means.
They then ordered the passenger who they addressed by name out of the car, threw him on the trunk and with no probable cause searched him. They found nothing. By this time a crowd was gathering and witnesses stated to me the officer didn’t have on a name tag.
At this time the boy’s mother, Michelle Meyers accompanied by her 11 year old daughter came out of her house to see the cop manhandling her son. Witnesses said at this point Meyers became distraught and told the cop “to leave my son alone, he didn’t do anything”. The cop told her to shut up and back away at which she stated “this is my front yard”
Boom they turned around, grappled her, twisting her arms behind her back to cuff her. At this point her 11 year old daughter began to cry yelling ”please don’t hurt my mommy”. Then with no regard for the safety of the 11 year old they hauled Meyers away to the station and booked her on obstruction and resisting arrest.
Neighbors tell me that when Meyers returned home after being released with no bail she was visibly shaken and her arms were heavily bruised and cut.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this case is nothing has even been listed in the blotter.
So getting a tip that her arraignment was yesterday I went to city court to watch. There was a distraught Meyers still with bruises on her arms, days after her arrest with no lawyer. Judge Wait was kind to her and gave her paperwork for legal aid. I did learn one important detail. The arresting cop, the one who witnesses claim didn’t have a name tag was David Krylowicz.
So next time you wonder why people want an outside investigation and why witnesses are reluctant to come forward, look at this family's ordeal. Friends tell me that Michelle Meyers is fearful of losing her job and being evicted all because local police didn’t like her son's statement.
You know I come from humble roots. Never wanted much or needed much. I enjoy the company of the poor of this earth. They all say the same thing. The amount of justice you receive is equal to the amount you can afford.
From the barrios of Buenos Aires
To the slums of Haiti.
To Paris street riots
And all points in between.
I’ve heard tales of injustice and police intimidation but the truth of the matter is I could have found the same thing in my own back yard.
